History Trophy

Young Historians encouraged by MMHS

In 2008 the children of Year 6 were given the task in the annual School Governors’ Challenge of presenting the theme “Milton Malsor: Past, Present and Future”. Subsequently, during the summer term the Society’s website received very many hits from the enthusiastic children who found much of interest regarding the village’s past.

Year 6 prize winners History Trophy winner During the Leavers’ Service held in the Church of the Holy Cross at the end of the school year, the Chairman of the Society, who is a governor of the school, presented five prize winners with their awards. He also presented the MMHS History Trophy for the first time, together with a suitable book to Andrew Feathersone, the pupil in the view of the school who showed the greatest promise in historical studies.

The children gave a remarkable presentation throughout the course of the service which included recitals, singing, and the playing of musical instruments; they also related a series of amusing occurrences, or particular situations, from their time at school.

The trophy will be an annual award, and it is pleasing to see that the MMHS is making a useful input to the education of our local school.
