An interesting view looking up the High Street from the War Memorial. Houses forming Dunkley's Yard and Workhouse Yard can be seen on the right of High Street. It appears that folk are waiting for a bus, quite close to where the present bus shelter is.

Anchor Terrace / Barrack Yard - 1920s (Ref: 000128)
Anchor Terrace, also known as Barrack Yard, in the early 1900s. The thatched cottages were demolished in the 1930s to make room for a greenhouse - part of Turners Nurseries. Many of the famiiles moved to newly-built council houses on Towcester Road. The 3 brick cottages remain to this day, but have now been converted into one home - 19 Green Street.

Compass Inn - 1950s (Ref: 000074)
The white house (known as Lantern House?) was occupied by Mr Stockford. The next two brick cottages were occupied by Gran Whitmore and Wilf Saunders; the cottages were demolished to form the entrance to the present Holly House.

The Maltings - 1950s (Ref: 000073)
The two cottages, centre photo end on to High Street, were occupied by Miss Church (nearest road) and Mr & Mrs Robinson. Renovated into one dwelling in the 1970s.

Fishermans lodge - 1940s (Ref: 000072)
Water Hall, also known as Little House, in the garden of the present 17 Rectory Lane. Occupied by Mr & Mrs Green (spare time thatcher, and naturalist).
